Zota Layer was an ambient noise supergroup formed in the late 20th century at UC Santa Barbara. They played one live show in Goleta, opening for the Anal Kitties. It was a pretty good show, but the audience consisted primarily of a handful of groupies for the Anal Kitties.
The name was subsequently stolen by Jason Brown who used it as the moniker for his art school “sound work,” and since the costs were already sunk, he used Zota Layer as a solo band name for the next couple decades. It’s been a mixed bag.
Enjoy.
